A new chapter

Updated: Jul 31

As many of your will know, it's been the start of a new chapter for me as I moved from Aberdeen back to Glasgow in April this year. I haven't lived in Glasgow since 2007, but returning to be closer to family here has definitely felt like a homecoming and I'm loving getting to know my new location in the Southside.

See my work this summer:

Printmaking at Glasgow Print Studio/VACMA Award

At the start of the year I was delighted to be awarded VACMA funding by Glasgow Life and Creative Scotland to enable me to attend courses on printmaking techniques.

Since then I have been using my  learner's membership at Glasgow Print Studio - enjoying the friendly, collaborative atmosphere. I am trying to put my new skills to good use in developing a series of prints, some of which I hope to offer for sale at Dalkeith Palace.

You can see the initial results of my etching course here and on my social media pages https://www.instagram.com/p/C9ek59JsHB0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

New Studio

It took a while to find the perfect studio space in town (my space and art tribe at Arkade Studios in Aberdeen had set the bar high!).... but I have just moved in to at Grey Wolf Studios with an exciting group of artists. I can't wait to get back to making work regularly, and to see the projects that will grow out of this new artist-led community.

Workshops and Teaching

I was delighted to work again with Aberdeen Art Gallery this spring, along with the talented artist and all round lovely person Ursula Kam-Ling https://www.instagram.com/ursula_kam_ling/.

We ran a series of workshops for young people aged 16-25 looking at the work of Louise Bourgeois as part of the ARTIST ROOMS exhibition and it was such a pleasure. You can get a wee glimpse of the work produced here https://www.instagram.com/reel/C51xOBjoDhy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I have also been working with Impact Arts and East Renfrewshire Council since my move to the central belt, covering a range of skills and approaches with both child and adult groups.

If you would be interested in booking me for a workshop in future then please do get in touch to have a chat.

Future Plans!

I am hoping to book in and work towards an exhibition to celebrate my fast approaching big birthday (!!) in spring 2025.

If you know of an exhibition space locally which might suit well then please do drop me a note as I am still finding my bearings with spaces and places here. I will of course keep you posted so you can all make it along.

As always, thanks so much to those of you who support and follow my work. It really is massively appreciated!

Fiona x
