Fire
I am currently exploring imagery of fire. I am investigating how this passionate, flickering element can be portrayed in the medium of paint, and attempting to conjure and control the flames with my brush!
Throughout history, fire has been a source of light in dark times and this seems apt in the present, as the world faces many challenges. It has been a source of warmth and safety since the days of early man.
On the one hand fire is a dangerous, destructive force. A symbol of protest, violence and energy.
On the other it provides a spectacle and warmth: people gather together around the fire celebrating, grieving or sharing stories and use fire in traditions and rituals across the world.
